The Connecticut Society for Clinical Social Work is dedicated to supporting social work students, recent graduates and MSWs as they make their transition into the profession. As members of the Society, students and graduates will find that CSCSW trainings and events not only help them improve their own clinical work but also offer them opportunities to meet experienced social work clinicians practicing throughout the state. Students and graduates are currently supported through the CSCSW mentoring program; however, a database of Society members who can provide supervision and an LCSW preparatory class are also being organized.

The CSCSW invites new MSW graduates and new LCSWs to participate in mentorship!

The society sponsors one-to-one mentoring throughout the state (as well as monthly membership groups in some areas) provided by experienced social workers at no charge.

Mentorship focuses on:

  • Feedback, support, and encouragement regarding the social work profession
  • Developing your personal identity
  • Entering the job market
  • Obtaining licensure

Individual mentoring pairs determine the number of their meetings (from one meeting up to numerous meetings over the year).

Topics for discussion may include: agency interactions and politics, impact of client population on your life, managed care, transference and countertransference, boundaries, difficult client behaviors, managed care, creating a professional support system, etc.
